The canvas has arrived with fold marks

Shipping marks can be smoothed out almost completely before you start painting. That's how you do it.

Lienzo negro de pintar por números con un pájaro y flores

If your canvas travels rolled or folded, it is normal for it to arrive with some marks. The good news is that it can be softened, and the ideal is to do it before you start painting.

Option 1: with water (the easiest)

  1. Lay the canvas face down on a clean surface.
  2. Spray a little water on the back, without soaking it.
  3. Let it dry flat. As it dries, the fabric tightens and the marks soften.
  4. If you want, place some books on top with a clean cloth in the middle so that it lies flat.

Option 2: with an iron

  1. Lay the canvas face down on a towel.
  2. Place a cotton cloth on top from the back.
  3. Iron at low temperature and without steam, with gentle movements.

Important: never iron on the drawing side or directly on the canvas. If you have already started painting, use only the water option.

The definitive solution

Mount the canvas on a frame frame (the wooden frame on which the fabric is stretched) leaves it completely smooth, both for painting and for hanging later.
